Can An Adult Learn To Play Guitar On Their Own?
Learn to play guitar on their own with the proper training. I did it and so can they. But it will take some special guidance to get there efficiently. With the proper training and the desire to learn, anyone young or old can get to where they want to go. Even if it means the desire of wanting to learn to play guitar on their own.
The most effective way for an adult (or anyone) to learn the acoustic guitar is to take private guitar lessons. But for this to work, they must find a guitar teacher they resonate with.
Private Guitar Lessons
The right guitar teacher can make all the difference. They can teach you tips and tricks of the trade that can help you progress faster, get results quicker, and have fun especially if you have no prior musical knowledge.
The next best way to learn to play the acoustic guitar with no prior musical knowledge would be to follow a system. Such as a method book or online course. These two options will give you the second-best way of reaching your desired results.
Method Books
I have found personally that these are a great way to learn. They offer a step-by-step method that is specifically designed for quick results. They provide you with stepping stones that can get you to the other side efficiently.
The only downside to a method book is that you can’t ask the teacher questions. So you usually need to just figure it out for yourself. But this is usually a great option for a DIY kind of learner.
Online Courses
Back before the internet, these were called DVDs. Video courses. A method book in video format. Nowadays, these are called online courses. These are another great way to learn for those who like to learn on their own.
What makes an online course so beneficial is the video portion of it. You now see what the teacher is doing. Instead of just text and diagrams, you now have video as well. This makes this option more valuable and easier to learn from.
Final Thoughts
Private guitar instruction will always provide the best and quickest results. provided you find the right teacher and you can afford the service. The second best way to learn and most affordable is through a method book. A step-by-step system that will get you across the river quickly and easily.
And, for a little more cost you can purchase a tour guide through an online course to get you there a little faster with the addition of video. Video can be a huge benefit as you can see what the teacher is doing. This is second best to private instruction.
Since all these methods are viable, they are what I offer. I offer private guitar lessons that can be taught in the comfort of your home. These can be taught around the time and day that works best for your schedule.
I also offer method books that will teach you step-by-step how to get going playing the guitar quickly and easily. The benefit of learning this way is that you can easily afford a book, you can learn at the pace you desire and you can learn wherever you choose. And what’s best about my method books, is that if you purchase one and have questions, you can reach out to me and I will be happy to help you at no extra charge.
And last but not least, I offer an online course that can help you out even more. Because you have a video to go along with it. This and the other two options will give you the best chance for success at learning to play the acoustic guitar. The same goes with the method books. If you happen to purchase and need my assistance on a lesson, you can reach out to me and I will be happy to help you at no extra charge.
If you’re serious about learning to play the acoustic guitar on your own, I recommend you try one of these options. Maybe all three. See which one works best for you. As a guitar teacher of 20 years, I know everyone is different and you sometimes need to try different things to find what works best for you.
If you do, you will succeed at playing the guitar. But you must find the right learning system for the best results. Do that and you will be well on your way to guitar-playing success. And, if you have any questions about what I have taught you here today, feel free to reach out to me and I will be happy to help.
Until next time, take care.
