How To Improvise Using The Major and Minor Pentatonic Scales
In this lesson, we are going to learn how to improvise using major and minor pentatonic scales. The only way to do this is to learn them and work with them until you know how to use them in your guitar solos.
Improvising is making something up on the spot. Be creative in your way. When you can accomplish this, it is a great feeling. But to do so, you must know three things.
-
The scale pattern (either major or minor)
-
Where that scale pattern is located (along the fretboard)
-
How to bring it to life (hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends & slides.
Where guitar players get hung up on improvising is in number three. They don’t put enough time into studying how to do this. Bring the scales to life and make them sound like music.
The way to do that is to practice personality traits. These are what I call them because they bring the scales to life. When you can play hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, bends, vibrato, and so forth, then the music in your head starts to come out of the guitar.
But those don’t happen overnight. The reason why is that there is a signal that goes from your brain to your hand every time you do it. And to do it without thinking about it, this signal needs to be repeated over and over and over again.
This can only be done through time of study and practice daily.
How long will it take you ask?
Well, that depends, it all comes down to two things:
-
You and your desire to want to learn
-
The right training method
Number 1 is very important. You must have the desire to accomplish. Accomplish getting better at playing the guitar. The desire to learn the scales and how to bring them to life and sound musical. The desire to get to the point where you can improvise.
Number 2 is very important as well. Because without the proper training, you will get frustrated and quit. However, if your desire is strong enough, you might eventually figure it out. But it will be a long hard road.
Now, I can’t do anything about the desire part. That is all on you. But, if you are serious about learning to improvise with the major and minor scales and be able to play great guitar solos that make people go “wow”, I can help you there.
I can help with number 2. The right training method. This would be my guitar method book I authored and self-published Lead Guitar Wizardry
This method book will provide the training necessary to improvise guitar solos with both major and minor scales. Not only that, it will teach you a lot of other things that will get you to your desired result quickly.
Written in a simple step-by-step action plan that’ll take you from uncertain and confused, to clear, and confident. It will lead you on a steady path toward a widely successful skill in playing guitar solos the way you have always dreamed of.
All you need to provide is the desire to want to learn and the willingness to do the work. Expand your learning experience and rapidly progress your results to your desired outcome.
In addition to all that, you will receive a “signed author copy” from me. And assistance if you need it. Can’t beat that. Check it out and get started learning to improvise today.
Best of luck and thanks for reading.
