How To Stay Focused On Daily Practice When Learning The Guitar

In this lesson, we will learn how to stay focused on daily practice when learning the guitar. This is very important for your progress. It will determine if it’s fast or slow and affect our results.   If we don’t stay focused daily, we will lose sight of what our mission is.  To be better at guitar & be better at life!

Staying focused

Staying focused daily.

When working on a dream (any dream) the importance of staying focused daily is crucial to its achievement.  But this is also one of the hardest things to do.  It’s not hard to get focused, it’s hard to stay focused.

Why is it so hard?

Because every day we have a million things going through our minds and we are constantly being fed more & more information every day!  On TV, online, magazines, you name it.  And as we search for the tools and training to get us to where we are going, we get sidetracked by all this.  Which is what it’s designed to do.

Make it a reality

Did you know that?  Yeah, it’s all designed to see if you have what it takes to see your dream through to the end no matter how long it takes.  Very few people stick with a dream long enough to make it a reality.

They get out of focus, take extended breaks, try out new things, and eventually lose their hunger!  Hunger for the very thing that was going to make their life better.  This is why the importance of staying focused is an absolute must.

Develop patience

A gold key with the word patience on it.

Without focus, you’re all over the map.  You can’t see as clearly.  You’ll begin to lose sight of the original goal.  The goal that inspired you to get focused in the first place.  Lack of motivation will set in and your progress will begin to diminish.

Develop patience with your learning.  Some concepts will come easily, while others will not.  Take your time & find your pace.  Digest information in small bits & go over things you don’t understand a few times.  I guarantee the answers will come to you.

Practice daily

Do your best to get & stay focused and practice daily!  Read when you can.  Think about & write down your goals.  Keep positive chatter in your mind & keep away from negativity as much as possible.  All of this will allow you to stay focused on your practice.

By honing in your goals and making the commitment to see them through no matter how long it takes, you will give yourself a head-start in the right direction and be progress faster than you ever thought possible.

Remember it’s a test

A blackboard with the word TEST written on it.

Remember, these are all tests to see if you have what it takes to achieve your dream. Not all people who attempt to climb the mountain of successful dreams (no matter what they may be) will make it to the top.

That’s just the way it is.  But by staying focused on the goal at hand (getting better at playing guitar)  you will give yourself a better chance at achievement.

To achieve this, you must get started

A note pad with the words let's get started written on it. And a magnifying glass and paper clips on top.

No place better to get started than at the beginning.  You see, a lot of self-taught guitar players don’t follow a plan and stay focused on that plan until the goal is achieved.  Especially now with the internet, they tend to bounce around from one song technique to another and have fun.

This is fine except that without a system of learning to follow, they will eventually run into roadblocks.  Then frustration kicks in and the fun runs out.  A very common thing that happens quite often because they never set a goal and continue to stay focused on achieving it.

That is why a system is best to follow.  Like the system I created with the guitar book I’ve authored and self-published, Learn Guitar: Simple Method For Beginners.

Learn Guitar: Simple Guitar Method For Beginners. Dwayne Jenkins

This book is designed for anyone wanting to learn guitar and get the fundamental principles down in the shortest amount of time possible.  With step-by-step lesson plans and full-color pictures, this book will have you playing guitar in no time.

No prior music knowledge is necessary

Even if you have never touched a guitar before, no prior music knowledge is necessary.  That is because Learn Guitar: Simple Method For Beginners is exactly what it says it is.  A simple easy study for anyone.  It doesn’t matter if you have the desire to play the acoustic guitar or the electric guitar.  This book can help you do it.

Reduce frustration!

Many times at the beginning of doing anything, it can be frustrating if certain things are not known.  Like for instance, not knowing the proper tools to use.  Or possibly not knowing the right direction to go in.

Or even taking the correct steps in a certain procedure.  Knowing things like these can make all the difference in the world when it comes to getting started on any new journey.

This method book will teach you such things as:

*What type of guitar to choose

*Correct guitar positioning

*Tuning up & using a guitar pick

*How to play easy chords

*Reading modern-style sheet music

*Creating rhythms with proper timing

*Arpeggiating chords

*Playing melodies

*Practice habits

And much, much more.  Learn Guitar: Simple Method For Beginners offers everything (and then some) you need to get started having fun playing guitar.  A comprehensive introduction to essential guitar playing fundamentals.

That provides a quick effective, uncomplicated, and practical alternative to the multitude of traditional self-instruction method books, by offering simple diagrams that can be understood easily for quick results.

Final thoughts

As I said before, work to stay focused on your goals of what you wish to accomplish with your guitar playing.  Everyone is different so you’ll have to decide for yourself.  But if you take the principles taught in this lesson to heart and put them into action, you can’t lose.  You will accomplish that dream.

Also, if you have any questions about what I teach, feel free to contact me.  I will be happy to help you with anything that you are working on.  Be sure to check out the method book, as I know it can help you to read your desired results quickly and efficiently.

Best of luck, and until our next lesson, take care.

Sincerely, Dwayne Jenkins
